"Outstanding Volunteer"

The Fifteenth Annual Women on Their Toes Spring Luncheon, Honoring Outstanding Volunteers from Austin Non Profit Organizations

In 1987, two years after the tragic death of their 20-year-old daughter Christi, Don founded “For the Love of Christi” with his wife Susan. This unique grief-support organization offers love, comfort, and support to those having difficulty adjusting to life after the death of a loved one, regardless of the circumstances. For over 21 years, Don has donated his time, and dedicated his life, to helping individuals and families through support group meetings, retreats, and countless panel presentations to churches, schools, universities, and law enforcement agencies. He is especially recognized for helping men with their grief issues. Offering services free of charge, Don has turned a tragedy into a mission to reach out to the broken-hearted. Don was born in Jacksonville, FL. He holds his BBA from St. Edward's University, and a Master's of Education from Texas State. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he was appointed St. Edward's Alumni Director from 1972-1977, and was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus in 1979. He has been in the real estate business for over 30 years, and owns Don E. Cox & Associates. His ability to help people devastated by loss is a special gift, earning him these awards:

  • 2005 Lumen Gentium (Light of the World), Diocese of Austin
